Meditation - Where Mind and Body Touch One Another

Executive Summary about Meditation by Deborah Kukal Ph.D

We sometimes see our spiritual world as separate from our physical world. That aspect of meditation is all very spiritual and neat, quite ‘otherworldly’.

But we also open our brains and bodies to the physical blessings of meditation, the blessings God gives us as we live here in His created universe. These blessings are ‘real’, we can see and measure them…healing, nourishing biochemicals, physical processes which move our bodies toward greater health. We are ’soul-brain-mind-body-biochemical-loveofGodtransforming-all-at-the-same-time’ miracles!!

What’s flowing through your life?

Is your body nourished by the healing streams of meditation, washing away the toxic damage from stress? Or is your body flooded with stress…eroded by streams of anxiety, pain, exhaustion, worry?

Stress floods the brain and body with toxic biochemicals. Meditation releases a healing cascade of biochemicals that washes away the “acid rain” of stress biochemicals and nurtures your brain and your body. Meditation can even help rebuild the very structures of your brain.

When you meditate, when you live in communion with God, your body is blessed and enriched by the nourishment He created for your whole self, mind and body.

Meditation has been shown to

Reduce anxiety, Reduce depression, Enhance sleep, Decrease symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Normalize blood pressure,Enhance immune functioning, Increase healing and speed recovery, Reduce symptoms of diabetes, Enhance mood and reduce fatigue, Prevent signs of aging in the brain

So enjoy the physical blessings God gives you in meditation as they flow through your mind and your brain, your belly and your soul. And let your mind and body touch one another!

A Rediscovery of the Immeasurable Benefits of Meditation

Executive Summary about Meditation by Donald Saunders

Meditation Exercises

It is no surprise therefore that we find ourselves turning increasingly to ancient practice of meditation.

Because of its long and proven record of effectiveness, meditation today is being practiced not only to bring peace to the mind and lower stress but also to treat an ever widening range of physical complaints.

There are numerous physical benefits to be derived from meditation which slows the heart rate and consequently the strain on the heart, reduces levels of the ’stress’ hormone cortisol and other chemicals in the body that are linked to stress and reduces free radicals in the body thus further helping to reduce blood pressure. It also increases the flow of air through the lungs to aid breathing and can even raise levels of DHEA to help slow the aging process.

In terms of its psychological benefits, meditation decreases irritability and anxiety and improves memory and thus the ability to learn. A few other notable benefits of meditation exercises include:

* Assisting with the treatment of a variety of physical conditions for which there is a link between the physical illness and the emotional state of the sufferer.

* Creating an opening of the door into the ‘inner self’ which released our natural creativity.

* Generating an increase in levels of energy that make it easier to tackle the stresses of daily life.

* Creating a greater ability to deal with several vices and addictions ranging from tobacco and alcohol to narcotics.

The secret therefore is to understand exactly what guided meditation can and cannot do and to learn the art of meditation before adding daily meditation into your normal pattern of life.

Meditation and Depression - Meditation is One of the Most Prescribed Remedies for Depression

Executive Summary about Meditation by Dusty Alan

Meditation Classes

You hear a lot today about meditation and depression. I can honestly say that meditation has helped me cope with depression in the past. While meditation is generally associated with spirituality, and has its deep roots in metaphysics, you don’t have to be a spiritual person or subscribe to any particular spiritual belief to benefit from the effects of meditation.

To better get an understanding of this, let’s first discuss some of the main symptoms of depression:

lack of focus and concentration, increased levels of stress, irritability and mood fluctuations, increased insomnia

While there are many more symptoms of depression than what’s listed above, my primary purpose is to just focus on the areas that can be improved through meditation.

So now let’s look at some of the benefits of meditation :

raising consciousness, reducing stress, helping with insomnia, an increased ability to focus and concentrate, elevation in mood and well being.

As you look at the list above, focus on the ones listed in bold. You can see the benefits of meditation that one can expect to receive if they are willing to start up a meditation classes and follow through in a consistent manner. These benefits are a match to many of the symptoms that exist in depression. A good way to start off the meditation is with breathing exercises. Imagine each body part going limp, starting from your feet and working your way up to your head. Spend about 2 to 5 minutes with this process. Now begin by saying affirmations to yourself, either out loud or in your mind. Affirmations such as “I’m no longer depressed”, or “I feel better each and every day”, or “my depression is fading day by day”.

Meditation - Being In the Present Moment, With Total Awareness

Executive Summary about Meditating  by  Satyakaam G

Meditation Technique

Meditation Technique

If one is really keen to know what is meditation? Then this is the essence - “Being present in the moment devoid of any clinging to the past and future happenings.” Although meditation is beyond expression but still down the ages masters and mystics have tried their best to articulate the essence of meditation. So that it can appease the appetite of intellect to make one ready for the inner journey.

Life is fleeting away and every moment is as crucial as is breathing. When one is aware of the breathing i.e. inhalation and exhalation, in essence one is doing meditation. And when one integrates the wandering thoughts from all over the world to one single moment i.e. NOW moment, then that too is meditation. The best part is that for a sincere seeker these can prove to be the most powerful meditation technique. To an extent that one need not even follow any other guided meditation technique in whole span of life. But the pre-requisite is the sincerity, determination and steadiness.

Well, it is very easy for the mind to pose questions like, how can these trivial ways be the ways of meditation. And it is certainly natural for a novice to ask such a question. In fact raising a question is the evidence that one wants to know the truth. So the journey from knowledge to knowing the unknown begins with asking the right question. Practically speaking, if you want to test the above mentioned small yet potent ways of meditation, then just for a flick of a second BE IN NOW! Forget about what happened in the moment that has just passed, don’t anticipate the future, just stop all the activities of the mind and be totally present in the moment.
